Purpose of role

The Environmental Education (EE) Coordinator plays a key role in delivery of the Live Here Love Education programme, set out in our 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, through delivery of a range of activities required to deliver the Eco-Schools project.
The post-holder will work closely with the rest of the EE team. They will be responsible for the successful delivery of Eco-Schools in particular selected councils, ensuring the Field Officers meet their EE deliverables, working closely with Field Officer Line Manager to ensure all agreed work is completed effectively and on time. They will be required to develop high quality environmental education resources and deliver a proportion of these directly as well as supporting Field Officer delivery.

Duties and expected outcomes

As well as coordinating resource requirements for a range of organisation-wide projects, the EE Coordinator will be required to support the rest of the EE Team, being agile, organised and solutions focused, whilst being the key point of contact for EE enquiries, including managing the Eco-Schools enquiries mailbox. 
  
Eco-Schools
  • Support as EE point of contact with particular Councils, including maintaining delivery against key SLAs and delivery of Eco-Schools Green Flag targets, in particular for your Council areas
  • Assessment of Eco-School Green Flag applications, in particular for designated Council areas, and support Field Officer assessments as required
  • Development of high-quality, curriculum-linked environmental education resources with clearly defined learning outcomes
  • Deliver Environmental Education workshops as required
  • Deliver and coordinate delivery of cluster groups, teacher training and clinics, necessary to achieve Green Flag targets and meet other DAERA and privately funded deliverables 
  • Input into coordination and resourcing of all EE activities /projects (working closely with the Field Officer Line Manager & EE colleagues) to ensure resources are well balanced and allocated to deliver the Eco-Schools work programme
  • Responding to Eco School enquiries in a timely and accurate manner, bringing in other colleagues as needed
  • Work closely with Live Here Love Here colleagues involved in other environmental education and community engagement programmes.
  • Produce targeted emails to schools and support the Communications Team with content for the Eco-Schools newsletter.

Person Specification

Qualifications, skills & experience

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level or 3 years relevant experience
  • 2 years project management/coordination experience
  • A teaching qualification with minimum 1 years’ teaching experience 
  • Minimum 1-year experience in development of educational resources 
  • Experience of Canva for resource and workshop development
  • Minimum 1-year experience of delivery of workshops
  • 1 year’s staff supervision experience
  • Developed ICT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, with Excel experience
  • Full current driving licence with access to a suitable means of transport to enable you to carry out the duties and responsibilities.

Desirable         

  • Post primary teaching experience 
  • Mail Chimp, MIS, CMS, project management software
  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector

General

The person appointed will work from our office in Belfast a minimum of 2 days per week and may work from home the rest of the week. You will also be expected to travel to Eco-schools sites, councils, events, photocalls, meetings etc as required.  
IT support and hardware is provided for all staff to enable them to be efficient and effective in their work. 
Live Here Love Here operates flexible office hours between 8am and 6pm, with core hours between 10am and 4pm. Your normal days of work will be Monday to Friday, but given the nature of the work, this role requires flexibility and will involve some evening and weekend working. Flexibility for this is vital and time-in-lieu will be offered in return. 
This position is funded through the DAERA Environment Fund.

Live Here Love Here is a community focussed organisation with a commitment to reducing its impact on the planet. A key approach in achieving this is through Carbon Literacy training for all employees.  This programme, delivered in partnership with the Carbon Literacy Project, raises awareness about the climate change challenge that we all face as well as the commitments we can make to behaviour change that will help reduce emissions.
